She wasn’t born with a golden spoon attached to her hands;
Nor was she born with fair skin, blonde hair, blue eyes or a straight nose.
She wasn’t born to parents of wealth, high social standing nor great class.
And no, she wasn’t born with the opportunities that most children of her era were given.
She wasn’t born into a world that was prepared for her existence.
She was not even born the stronger sex.
She surely wasn’t born in the community of self confidence and optimism,
Nor was she born a winner, an achiever, or the most likely one to succeed.
She wasn’t born into to a system that truly appreciated her nor loves her.
Neither was she born with unique talents or special abilities.
She wasn’t born in a loving, altruistic nor hospitable culture.
And she wasn’t born with perfect and absolute moral purity.
She wasn’t born to live, nor survive.
She wasn’t born to listen, nor to be heard, neither to see nor to be seen.
And no, she wasn’t born to shine nor radiate the beauty of inner peace.
Nor was she wasn’t born to ignite hope nor erect faith in her generation.
She wasn’t born to be a hero; she wasn’t born to be somebody.
She was born poor, black and strapped to the bottom of the social strata.
She was born with a minute quantity of prospect.
She was born into a world blinded by spiritual darkness and bounded by sinfulness.
She was born a strong woman, who overcame fits of low self confidence caused by the raucous stones of life, and has now embarked on the shinning road of optimism.
She was born in an array unlikely hurdles for her to past, to which she has victoriously surmounted.
She was born amongst people who despised her and rejected her, but now look to her for help, counsel and advice.
She was born empty with no innate gifts but she strived for excellence, and anchored her self in God who gives to all who faithfully seek him.
She was born in a world of hatred to which she was determined to change by showing love.
She was born a sinner but she surrendered her life to God and received the fullness of his regenerating power, and righteous glory.
She was born much to the dismay of the devil who valiantly tried numerous times to destroy her life, but continues to fail even to this very day.
She was born in a system that could not neglect nor ignore her no matter what plans were orchestrated. Her voice is too powerful to be disquieted and her presence is too invaluable to be disregarded.
She was born at the dawn of a new era, marked by a tremendous glow of light that reflects the calm and noble spirit that God placed within her heart.
She was born with a choice to be a conqueror or a victim. Her choice forever stands and remains a positive example for us that despite the unlikely circumstances under which we are born, we have the final say in what we become. We are not the by product of a series of unfortunate events; we are overwhelming conquerors through Christ that loves us.
Nichola Walcott is a woman that has seen many sad, gloomy and depressing days but she has risen far above her circumstances, above all the improbabilities and impossibilities laid before her and now she is soaring, and sowing seeds of hope and faith in her generation. She wasn’t born to be a hero but she is! She wasn’t born to be somebody, but she has gallantly established herself as one. She wasn’t born to achieve but she has! Far more than she can ever imagine.
Guess what? You can do the same too!
Let 2009 be a year in which you turn around all the negatives and convert them into positives. By the grace of God walk in great victory this year.
Let it be said of you as well, “you weren’t suppose to________ but you have.”
