Heavenly Father I humbly approach your throne of grace thanking you for the many blessings you have given to us as a nation. I thank you for created us as your servants those on whom you have called upon to praise your name. Lord you are wonderful, you are not a figment of our imagination, neither are you a design our thoughts. You are real, powerful, alive and active in our lives. You are the one reason that this world exist, and our lives should be lived to praise your name.
Lord, Jamaica has been taken over by the pollution of sin, wherein men have become God’s in their own eyes, and have now forsaken your ways. Truth is no longer objective, but rather a private matter left up to our own interpretation. Consequently, men feel like they are free to do anything that pleases them. As a result, we lie, we steal, we cheat, and we kill!
Our nation has become darkened by the smoke of crime and violence. Our airwaves have become intoxicated by lewdness, and indecency. Our heart has become unreceptive to your truth, to your love, and to your way. Greed is what rules our heart and influence our actions. Our leaders are more concerned about the trappings of wealth, affluence, and position; rather than, the needs of the Jamaican people, and the cry of their heart.
Father we are in trouble, as we no longer have principles by which to live by. We are no longer governed by the foundational values of the ten commands, but we live as if they are ten suggestions. We have become welcoming and tolerant to diverse forms of deviant behaviours, and accepting them as good.
Our new found heroes are the men who claim to be dons, those who are gun swindlers, those who molest underage children, those who smoke, and those who profess themselves to be bad. We idolize the men who celebrate immorality in their music and lifestyle. We eagerly pursue media that raucously sexualize our women, leaving many to conclude that women are only objects of sex.
Lord, Jamaica’s love is misguided and misdirected. Church has become a playground for many, and a host club for hosting our funerals when we die. We have gambled so many things including our relationship with you. We have prostituted our bodies for the cheap gain of a fancy life. We have sold our soul to the Devil all because of the greed that rules our heart. And, we have become so busy to stop and tell you thanks for this life you have given to us.
Jamaica needs a change Lord! Our values lie wasted on the polluted street upon which we walk everyday. Our morality has been thrown in the rubbish bin to be disposed of. Our Conscience has been buried in the cemetery of hopelessness.
Jamaica needs a change Lord! Your Church is harshly criticised for the social ills that is severely affecting us. Men want a cheap fix and are not prepared for the real effort to bring about lasting transformation and healing.
Lord I Only ask that you will let us understand how much we need you; that you will make our conscience alive once more, that you will, as a nation draw us close to you; that you will destroy greed from our lives; that you will allow us to love you above everything in life, and to love our neighbour as ourselves. Lord, that you will guard our minds against ungodliness; and that you will empower us to shun the very thought of sinning against you.
Father, I cannot go on pretending that our country can get better without your help, the problems that Jamaica is facing is beyond any government to fix, only the hand of God can rescue us from this nightmare that seems bent on lasting a lifetime.
Heavenly Father I humble ask that you show up and help us, in your wonderful name, Amen!!!
